Youngstown - Youngstown’s mayor is calling the latest rumors about him "speculation" from a local political columnist.
The latest editions of The Valley Voice, a newspaper published by striking Youngstown Vindicator employees, claims Mayor George McKelvey is about to be offered a job by either the Bush Administration in Washington or by Ohio Governor Bob Taft in Columbus.
The move would then lead to a resignation by the mayor before his term ends in December of 2005.
Thursday evening, the mayor said the story has no basis, adding, "I have every intention of finishing out my term."
The mayor did admit, if a job were to be offered, he would consider it at that time, but again reiterated his position to fulfill his term in Youngstown.
