Ousted Ohio Congressman James Traficant has been moved from a federal prison in upstate New York to a prison hospital in Minnesota.

A spokeswoman with the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that Traficant had been transferred last week but wouldn't say why.

The Youngstown Democrat was expelled from Congress two years ago after he was convicted of racketeering, bribery and tax evasion. He's serving an eight-year prison sentenced and is to be released in August of 2009.

Traficant had been incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution in Ray Brook, near Lake Placid in the Adirondacks, since March.
